A tasty choice..
The mango is one of the best known Brazilian
tropical fruit. Tasty and succulent, it can
be enjoyed in several ways. But none of them
outdoes the pleasure and ease of eating a mango
in its natural state.
How to choose a ripe mango:
- The skin should
be mostly reddish.
- If pressed gently,
the mango should yield slightly.
- Avoid mangoes with
greenish or grayish skin tones, or fruit with
dark stains.
- Smell the mango
near the stem. The perfume should be fresh
and have a fruity aroma.
- How to eat mangoes
in their natural state:
- With the fruit
unpeeled, cut the mango into slices lengthwise,
cutting as close as possible to the stone.
- Cut the pulp into
cubes, but without slicing all the way through,
making sure the pulp remains connected to
the skin.
- Because the mango
is very juicy, make sure you have some napkins
at hand to clean of the juice.
Mangoes contain:
- vitamin A, iron
and the B complex
